Faqir Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan Leghari (1836-1914). One of the legendary poets and Sufi masters of the Indus Valley was Faqir Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan Leghari. He was the son of Nawab Ahmed Khan, and the grandson of Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan- the Prime Minister of the Talpur regime.
After the British invasion in the region, he moved to Mirzanpur, Sakrand, in the north of Hyderabad. Amongst his teachers were Akhund Sawani, Myun Ghulam Muhammad, Myun Muhammad Sadiq, Myun Muqeem and Myun Sajawal. For spiritual path he became the student of Sufi Ibrahim Shah 'Bangalay Dhani' of Jhok Sharif lineage. In the year 1883 AD/ 1 301 AH, due to the heavy flood affecting Mirzanpur badly, Faqir Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan migrated toTajpur for good. At the age of forty, he renounced the worldly affairs, and handed the matters over to his brother Nawab Bakhsh Ali Khan and chose Sufic way of life. He was fond of spiritual music and poetry. Much has been written about him and his great works. Amongst his contemporaries and friends was the great poet Syed Misri Shah of Nasarpur. A lot of individuals became his disciple and later on mastered themselves. A lot many learnt from him, such as: Muhammad Faqir Khatiaan - a great Sufi poet & master, Fateh Ali Khan Khatian, Qazi Hisamudin and Ahmed Faqir Lakho.
Faqir Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan Leghari departed in 1914 (in the month of Ramadan, 1 332 Hijri), and his mausoleum is inTajpur, which has been reconstructed recently and is surrounded by a small graveyard. He said poetry in Sindhi & Siraiki languages, and his biography and works have been published.
It is looked after by sajjada nashin Faqir Nawab Ghulam Shabbir Khan Leghari. On every 4th of Ramzan, annual urs is celebrated.
