Police Headquarters, Jacobabad

Offices of District Police Officer (but presumably first meant for the Scinde Irregular Horse), designed by the founder of the town, Gen. John Jacob in what Isabel Shaw has aptly described: "a strange cross between a fort and a mosque".

This building was built in 1910 (as mentioned on the front portion). The building has a vast ground with residential quarters for the employees of the Police Department.

Due to constant negligence of the agencies concerned, the building increasingly losing the charm. The building qualifies to be included in the heritage list of the national monuments.

According to the old residents, the building was initially used for the training of the police recruits of the district as well as of the other parts of the province, following the establishment of Police Training School at Shahdaapur (the first of its kind) during the mid-1940s, this training centre ceased to exist. It has three large domes and is a double storied building. It also houses district old arm depot as well as the old confiscated weapons. This has in actual remained an institution for the training and refreshing the police force.

It is also claimed that the vast ground of the headquarters was also used by the local residents as the playground. Many police officers promoted & encouraged local youth to come forward and participate in sports. In this way football game was promoted and a great number of players were produced, who created name & fame of their country by confronting with world's best playing teams!
