Dargah Noor Shah, Jacobabad

The history of dargah of Noor Shah in the premises of DCO secretariat is unknown. Nor any thing concrete about Noor Shah is hitherto known. The local scholars connect its history with colonial administration, who facilitated his burial in the premises of the DC's residence. Local people regularly pay visit to the dargah and place cloth sheets (purr) on the grave as a mark of respect.

An other important character of the city, Muhammad Yousuf "Angraiz", who remained predominant on its socio-political scene for more than three decades, is also buried in the same premises. He was a Canadian national who crossed into Pakistan in early 1950s and finally settled in Jacobabad and died here in 1991 (see detailed profile on page 226). His funeral was officially arranged by the then deputy commissioner on the instructions of then Chief Minister Jam Sadiq Ali.
