Saeedabad Mosque, Matiari

There are two ancient mosques of identical shape (three domed), size and the age are situated in New and the old Saeedabad localities. The one in the new Saeedabad town in ward 3, Ghous Ali Shah Mohalla is Known as Awal Masjid. Its veranda is a latest construction. Its walls are about 6 feet thick. There is mausoleum in the premises of the mosque which is famous as Akhund Wali. The mausoleum houses two graves. According to an other version these are the graves of a teacher and the student. An extra ordinarily thick old neem tree stands in the premises of the mosque. The local people say that the mosque was built in Kalhorra period.

However, it do not appear to be that much old or carry the prominent features of architecture of Kalhorra period.

Yet another ancient mosque, some 5 kilo metres off here in the village Shahanshah in Old Saeedabad has also under gone tremendous changes and alterations. It is near to the bank of river Indus. People here claim that both of these mosques were built during Mughal period.

This mosque had two wind catchers which have been closed by the people causing damage to eco system of the building. Very unfortunately the concerned government agencies meant for providing protection to these ancient monuments are totally unaware of these two important and historical monuments.
