Tajar building is in Jinnah Bagh and it was constructed in 1832 to keep coffin of dead body of Nawab Wali Muhammad Khan Lighari. After five years of entombment its coffin was taken out by his son Nawab Ahmed Khan and sent to Hyderabad where his body was buried in their ancestral graveyard located in Pathan Colony. The total area to Tajar building is 13905 square feet though the covered area of the building is only 1890 square feet while the remaining area has been grabbed by Larkana Municipality. In 1884, the Giles Library and a reading room were opened in this picturesque old building. The library contained more than one thousand books and was opened to members of every community. The subscription range at that time was from 8 annas to Rs. 2 per member. For few years this building has also been used as local broadcasting when the library has been shifted to the Pakistan National Centre. It has also been used as park side hotel while now days the house has been owned by Culture Department.
