Railway Station, Larkana


During British regime in 1890 Larkana has been connected with Railway track on the route towards Karachi, Kotri, Sukkur and Rohri on one side while on other side it has been linked with Shikarpur and Jacobabad. Due to this new communication system not only social system of this city urbanized but also developed the commerce and Industry of the region. Larkana Railway station is located in centre of the city. This junction is staffed and has a booking office, dry port, travelers dock bungalows, rest houses, employees colony and many gigantic bungalows for staff officers like station master, AEM etc. Administrative building of old station is located on western shoulder of present Railway station where now "Railway hospital" is positioned. New building of this station has been constructed and inaugurated by Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on the site of old Railway cargo sheds. Mr. Mohammed Nawaz Jaffri was first Station Master of New building of Larkana railway station. The new building of the Railway | station Larkana contained one VIP room, two AC upper class/first class, one waiting Hall and one for lower class ticket holders. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto proposed Railway station Larkana for having central Air conditioned plants in the basement of the building which would suck cold air in the rooms located on the upper portions. Such basement air T conditioned plants have also been launched at the railway stations of Nawab shah and Dera Gazi Khan. Newdero, Dokri, Badah, Radhan, Madeji, Ruk stations has been established and introduced in 1890.

Larkana Railway zone of total eleven stations is more or less 82 kilometers of which the Karachi-Quetta line connects Larkana District via Habib kot Junction with Shikarpur District on its North East.
