Rai Bahadur Seth Chandiram Verhomal Dowltani Maternity Home and Women's Hospital, presently famous as town's old taluka Hospital was built in 1932. Due to sheer negligence, the hospital building has been deprived of its past glory and traditions of service to all. Various old fixtures of the building have been damaged and stolen. Even the main gate is barricaded by the encroachers.

Stench of feces and urine threw me back when I tried to enter into a ward, which was converted by locals as common lavatory. The upper story of the building has also been occupied unauthorizedly and illegally. It is situated just opposite to the Gangoti Ground. It is said that the hospital was once visited by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930s, probably on the invitation of the founder of this hospital.
