Folad Faqeer Sher , Khairpur


Renowned sufi poet, Folad Faqeer (1867-1960) was the resident of village Mangho Faqeer in Taluka Thari. After completing his education, he served for quite some time as a school teacher but at one stage he quit the job. He was the disciple of Syed Muhammad Ali Shah. During his life time, he was trialed in law courts on one or the other account and was penalized. During his life, he also wrote a book entitled as "Roohul Azam".

The book coludn't be published so far. He was the class fellow or then ruler of the Khairpur State, Mir Imam Bukhsh Khan Talpur.

The peculiarity of the Dargah of Folad Faqeer is that there is no mosque with in its premises. Instead of small chamber for 'muraqba' exist here. The chamber is called as the "Shaitan Jo Lock Up" (lock up of Satan), where the disciples used to confine themselves for weeks and months to control over their spiritual needs. The shrine of control over their spiritual needs. The shrine of Folad Faqeer houses four graves including Ali Gohar his (son) Dost Ali Faqeer, (Nephew) and Asadullah Shah. On every first of Rabi ul Awal the Urs of Folad Faqeer is celebrated while on second of Jamadul awal Ali Gohar Sain's Urs is celebrated. The Mehfil Hall of the dargah meant for rest for the faqeers and talibs of dargah contains an old garder of Lands Down Bridge Sukkur in its roof. This garder was brought here by Faqeer Folad Ali himself.
