Gambat is one of the old towns of former Khairpur State. The traces of colonial architecture are still very much visible and almost intact. Besides few old schools and Muslim or Hindu worship places, the town is custodian to few more old buildings of the time, such as Police Station, Civil Court, Sub Divisional Officer, Irrigation's Office and Sub Registrar Office. All these buildings are situated in the close proximity. All the buildings housing these offices have identical shape and design. Due to the encroachment in and around the premises of these buildings, it has become very difficult to identify the orgin of these buildings. However, all these units seems to be the part of irrigation rest house, which may have been built some time in late 1920s.
