Pirs of Gambat, Khairpur


The founder of this famous Gaddi was Pir Muhammad Shah Baghdadi, who died issueless. Ultimately his nephew Pir Ibrahim Shah became his successor. Though, he was not well of in Arabic, Persian and Hindi languages but still he commanded lot of respect among the contemporary religious scholars or rulers of Khairpur State. He had six sons: Shamsuddin Shah, Muhammad Shah, Hussain Din Shah, Ghous Muhammad Shah, Qutbuddin Shah and Abdul Razzaq Shah. After the demise of Ibrahim Shah, his elder son Shamsuddin Shah became the successor of the Gaddi of Gambat.He was a known scholar of the time. He had four sons: Mehmood Shah, Khamees Ali Shah, Soomer Shah and Jaffer Shah. Pir Shamsuddin Shah died in 1929 and was succeeded by his son Pir Ghulam Murtaza Shah (died in 1968). The mausoleum is densely populated with number of graves, which are duly captioned.
