Gambat's old Boys High School has many a names to its credit with two distinct portions built on different times. The old red bricked building with high roof was built as AV School in 1937 and was later on renamed as Vidyala School. The other portion next to it was built by then ruler of the Khairpur State H.H Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur was back on April 4, 1947 and thus was renamed as Murad High School. The new building opposite to the old school was also supplemented with a boarding facility, where the boarders used to be offered free meals with no boarding feed etc. Vidyala School's building comprises two stairs covered with beautifully designed canopies. Unfortunately both are no more in use these days because of crumbling structures and zero maintenance. The main entrance of the Vidyala School bears following inscription:
"Shri 108 Sawami Kiroacharya Sunatan Dharam Vidyala, Gambat 1939"
While the foundation stone of once a AV school reads as:
"AV School Gambat, Foundation Stone laid by Aijaz Ali Esquire. Khan Bahadur, Minister of Khairpur State, 1937".
Through the record of the old AV School or the Vidyala is missing but the one that of Murad School's is very fortunately in order and intact. Mr. Shafi Muhammad Khan served as its first head master in 1947.
During 1970s a police officer of the time tried to occupy the Vidyala School. The news of the occupation of this historical building spread in the whole town like a wild fire and the citizens came out on roads demanding the evacuation of the historical school building. At last the school building was freed from the clutches of the unauthorized encroacher.
