Takar Bungalow (a bungalow on a hill), a royal palace of the ruling family of Khairpur was built by Mir Faiz Muhammad Khan Talpur. The two storied palace stands on two different hillocks. It is located just apposite to the Kot Diji fort over looking the town of Kot Diji. It is entirely different from rest of the monumental buildings constructed by Mir Faiz Muhammad, in all respects. It has been designed keeping in mind the harsh weather of the area. During the peak hot sessions it remain comparatively cool and the chilling winter cannot bother its residents.

The stone crashing units legally or illegally operating in the adjoining hilly areas have seriously damaged Takar Bungalow's architectural outlook putting fishers in its walls due to frequent dynamite explosions. The Royal family in their effort to contain further deterioration has taken preventive measures. Similarly these explosions have also affected the structures of nearby historic Kot Diji fort. During the good old days it had its own power generating unit which was exclusively built to provide it with power round the clock. The ruins of the power generation station still can be seen in the basement of the hill. Besides this bungalow had a separate well which is no more in use these days. Takar Bungalow is surrounded by a towering red brick wall. One of the adjoining portion of the bungalow houses the precious golden Tazias and Cari Mubarak. They are usually put on display on the 9th of Muharram.
