Loung Faqeer, Khairpur

The mausoleum of Hazrat Loung Faqeer Mahesar (1201-1279), is situared nearly at a distance of about 25 kms in the east from Khaipur town. He belonged to Qadria school of though and was the contemporary of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. The old mosque adjoining to the Dargah was recently demolished by the Dargah's Sajjada Nashin on the pretext that it had become out dated and could have collapsed at any time. Faqeer Shair Ali Detho, Gadi Nashin of the Dargah is also the Union Council Nazim of the area. The mausoleum complex comprises over two tombs. The main tomb houses the grave of Hazrat Loung Faqeer, while in the adjoining tomb buried are Wazeer Allah Warayo Detho (resident of Naushahro Feroze who died in 1946) and Alhaj Hafiz Ghulam Rasool Faqeer, who died in (1984). Hafiz Ghulam Rasool was also a sufi poet and used "Ullah" as his poetic name. While Alhando Mahesar (brother of Loung Faqeer and first Gadi Nashin), Mian Lal Muhammad Awan (the second Gadi Nashin of Dargah), Pir Bakhsh Shaikh (former Finance Minister of Khairpur State) and Justice Khameesani are buried in the front portion of the mausoleum.

The annual Urs of Loung Faqeer is celebrated on 25th of Zilqaad and it remins continued for three consecutive days. Faqeer Shair Ali claims that it was their Jammat which built the Shrine of Hazrat Sultan Adham in Nara Taluka. He also claims that their Jamaat has the credit of under taking similar construction activities in the shrines of famous saints buried in other parts of Sindh also. Ironically, all that is being done with out considering the historic significance of old monuments.

The 'Lorrhas' of Hazrat Loung faqeer are spreading all over Sindh, that included Jacobad, Tharooshah, Arorre, Pano Akil, Sobho Dero etc.
