Railway Bungalows, Sukkur

The official residences of Railway employees in a queue, overlooking river Indus on Bunder Road, provide a source of nostalgia to those who had ever lived in the town sixty years back. This residential facility was developed during the later half of 19th century. Many of such Railway infrastructure in the vicinity has been demolished or illegally occupied by the encroachers. It is pertinent to mention here that a Railway Rest House in the same vicinity, was the place where founder of the nation Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah stayed on several occasions, during his periodical visits to Sukkur in connection with the case of Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi alias Soreh Badshah. Without caring the historical significance of such rest house, it was recently demolished and a multi-storied plaza was erected on its site for the purpose of judges accommodation.
