Dargah Hazrat Shah Hussain, Kashmore

Dargah Hazrat Shah Hussain alias Shah Ghous Jeelani in the middle of the town of Ghouspur is an ancient literary centre and a monument. It is said that Hazrat Shah Hussain, a pious saints, came here from an unknown Arab land way back 400 years ago, and opted to settle in this area which was called as Fatehpur. After his demise the village's name was changed and began to be known as Ghouspur. The main graveyard in the dargah's vicinity houses 3 graves.

While the tomb of chamber o graves besides it containing the graves of female members of the family has fallen due to lack of repair and negligence.

Hazrat Shah Hussain felt comfort here and started religious preaching. At one point he wrote to Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and sought financial assistance to construct a mosque in the village. His request was accepted and the emperor not only sent the money but also a group of masons and artisans were also dispatched to under take the construction task of the mosque. The nine domed Jamia mosque with about 6 feet thick walls with an specious prayer hall, in the premises of dargah, has time and again under gone series of repair works. The first recorded repairmen was undertaken by one philanthropist known as Dhani Dino Shah in 1899. When this time repair need was felt, the provincial government sanctioned some amount and very unfortunately the technical work of repair of this historic monument was awarded to a non technical contractor. Consequently its historic shape and design was miserably destroyed and even the material used in it was again in contrast to the prescribed preservation criterion. Most unfortunately neither this Dargah nor the Mosque have so far been owned by concerned government departments nor so far have been declared as protected heritage.

The Dargah had its own ancient library containing a valuable record of books on all subjects and in all the prevalent prominent languages of the time such as Arabic, Perisian, Sanskrit and Urdu etc. The present Sajjada Nashin of Dargah Mr. Bashir Shah donated whole library to Institute of Sindhology, Jamshoro (3000 books) and the Central Library of University of Sindh, Jamshoro (1600 books).
