Commissioners Office, Karachi

Deputy District Officer, In-Charge Central Control Room DCO Office, Syed Zahid Husain says, It was made in 1856. At the time the office was called the collectorate where the city deputy collector used to sit and resolve relevant issues. In 1997 it was declared a heritage building, which meant that it couldn't be tampered with and could only be restored to its original shape.

I can safely claim that if anyone who was alive even in the first half of the 20th century sees the DCO office today, s/he would be pleasantly surprised to see the office well conserved,” says Zahid Husain.

You cannot be sure if the oldies would agree with it, for even if they appreciate Commissioner's Office, there are so many other works of stonemasonry in Karachi that need immediate attention (read restoration).
