Sukkur Civil Hospital is a very old medical centre of the upper Sindh, built in 1880. According to Gazetteer of Other Province of Sindh, Sukkur District, B Vol: 3,1928, "The Civil Hospital opened in 1880 consists of a series of single-story buildings on the hill to the north of the town, overlooking the railway. It is in charge of the civil surgeon, and besides the usual staff, there is a nursing staff under the control of a special committee.
