Jamia Mosque Usto Bhaledinoabad, Jacobabad

The historic Jamia Mosque in village Usto Bhaledinoabad built by the famous philanthropist, Haji Karimdino Usto in 1911, is regarded best architectural monuments in the whole area. It comprises over a vast prayer hall (measuring about 30x20 feet), a veranda (measuring about 20x10 feet) and a courtyard (measuring about 30x40 feet). It is a red brick structured with domes identical in shape and design to the other religious monuments of the area such as Jamia mosque of Kot Jungoo Mosque and the Jamia Mosque of Chook (both in taluka Thul). Its ceiling is decorated with multi colored fresco designs. It's all wooden and without domes. It is said that the late philanthropist also donated 282 acres of land as an income generation source of the mosque, however, with the passage of time some unscrupulous elements reportedly went on usurping the donated mosque property. Its front portion is decorated with carved wood work. In 1992, the provincial Oqaf department took over its possession and carried out necessary repair work ignoring the preservation principles and the methodology. It was completely renovated and with out bothering to use the original mortar instead of cement etc. The interior walls were decorated with tiles up to the height of 10 feet causing irreparable loss to the foundation of this historic building. The mosque building is completely airy with wind catching system in its walls.

The village comprises over 80 to 90 houses with a population of about 4000 souls. It is inhabited by the people of varied castes including Soomras, Khakhranis, Unnars, Daya, Ustos, Kakepotas, Sapir, Qureshis, Meekan and Khiljis.

Haji Karimdino Usto, a pious philanthropist from this village, also built few more mosques in the suburbs. The one at village Jahan Shah (UC Qadirpur), near Kheer Thar canal was completely destroyed during the recent floods. It was already a fragile structure when the devastating floods hit it ana got its surviving structures to the ground. While yet another mosque which was built during almost the same time, in village Dadh Darri, UC Nawrra (near Pir Padhro and Chang Chachar Railway Station) is very much intact. It's a single domed structure and appears as if a mausoleum of a saint, the building is under constant threat of salinity. It was lastly renovated and repaired by late Ahmed Mian Soomro. Haji Karimdino Usto died in 1924.
