Old Municipal Office, Jacobabad

The premises presently housing Abdul Karim Gadaee Public library was the town's old municipal office which was established in 1904. The first Municipal committee was elected in 1901. Long memories of district's prominent personalities, who ever had chance of getting berth in the municipal committee, are associated with this century old building. Following the construction of Town hall in 1966 the municipality was shifted to the new premises and the old office was converted into a public library which was named after prominent writer- poet- Journalist late Abdul Karim Gadaee. Most unfortunately, the library was put to torch on December 27, 2007 riots that broke out following the assassination of Ex-Prime Minister Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto. A large quantity of books and its furniture were also set ablaze.
