More than a century old Jamia Mosque in village Hyderpur Wagho (via village Ahmedmian Soomro) is situated in the outskirts of Jacobabad town, (behind Shahbaz Air Base). The mosque was built by Haji Ghulam Hyder Khan Wagho son of Qaisar Khan Wagho. As mentioned on the commemorative stone, its work was started in 1318 Hijri and was completed in a year.
It comprises over a small prayer hall (15x45 feet). It has 4 feet wide load bearing walls over which its three huge does are based. The fresco patterns in the interior of domes vary in design as well as the color. The mosque's front elevation is decorated with multi-colored tiles with two minarets, which are also covered with decorative Hala tiles. Tiles used on the exterior walls as well as on the minarets are copper green, a golden brown and dark blue and turquoise, the colors & patterns are beautifully distributed. It has 3 wooden doors in the front, with two windows on left and right sides in the prayer hall.
It has striking resemblance with the Jamia mosque of village Khairo Wagho as far as beautiful tile work on its fagade and the total covered area of the building is concerned. The centre part of the front elevation is richly decorated with glazed tiles, Persian poetic verses with the year of construction of mosque & the name of its masons are displayed on the top.
In 1988, the mosque undergone a repair work with the estimated cost of Rs. 0.1 million, released by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Khan Junejo. The sub standard renovation work ignoring the scientific method of preserving its fragile structures hardly could address problems of fast deterioration in the wake of potent threat of salinity and water logging, faced to it. Moreover, during the last year's floods, the entire village of Hyderpur Wagho was washed away, while this old mosque which remained under water for more than a couple of months, miraculously survived and following the restoration of life in the area, the religious activity in the mosque also returned to normalcy. The fastly widening fissures in the structures of the mosque pose serious threat to the faithful.
Village Hyderpur Wagho is inhabited by the people belonging to various castes and creeds including Talani, Bugti, Qureshi, Chachar, Lashari, Bhangar, Khosa, Soomros etc. The village comprises over 60 houses.
