The building of old Pakistan Railways Institute built in 1883 (IVSR) is lying abandoned and one of its portions is being used as karate centre. Its gate has been uprooted and compound walls broken.
It is pertinent to mention here that with the increase in the activity to spread the railway net all around, Sukkur was chosen as a best place, where the Railway Headquarters were establish. As an effort to enhance the manpower and skilled labour, a full fledged Railway Institute was established. Presently the building is being used as marriage hall.
Opposite to this building lies an old swimming pool built in 1920 for the officers and their families. This was famous as European Swimming Pool. Unfortunately, it has also been destroyed and left dysfunctional. Its fixtures have been taken out while the huge infrastructure stands redundant. It is also being used as marriage hall and restaurant.
