The Radio Station in Hyderabad was established in the late 1950's. It was initially setup on a makeshift basis in the building of Homestead Hall. During the course of time the site for its permanent offices was selected, constructed and completed till it was formally inaugurated by Field Marshal Muhammad Ayub Khan, then President of Pakistan on December 28, 1962. With the establishment of Radio Station in Hyderabad, a surprise boost in the literary activities was felt. The aspirant artists left their houses and made beeline outside it to seek the chance of performance. All those lucky most who ever could get the opportunity appearing on Radio, sprang up the leading artists of TV, stage or the film industry of tomorrow. Hence besides being the main source of communication, it proved as a nursery of budding artists and gave them launching pad too. This building is situated in Saddar on Miran Muhammad Shah Road and is surrounded by many historical buildings such as K.B Azeem Building, Methram Hostel, GPO, Annie Besant Hall, Press Club, Dialdas Club, Govt. High School, Collector's Residency etc.
