The Public School in Sukkur town on military road was established in 1975. The school was established in joint collaboration of the provincial and federal governments, initially the federal government made available a grant of over 2 million rupees. Besides donations by the citizens of district Sukkur.

During the course of time new blocks of classrooms and boarding houses were constructed. It is run by a board of governors, chaired by the division commissioner.

As an effort to improve the educational standard and enhance the enrolment, Public School Sukkur was recently handed over to I BA Sukkur as its sister organization under an agreement. (Documented on June 4, 2013)
