Bhir Site, Rohri, Sukkur


This site is situated on the left bank of Nara Canal. Site measures about 112 x 149 m (16,688 Sq.M), the main site is approximately 02 meters high from the surrounding cultivated land. The remains were discovered in the surrounding land suggesting further extension of the site. The lime stone blocks were found in large quantity in various parts of the site, where the cultural material were also seen embedded in the section of a burrow.

Northern part of the site consisted on higher mounds. Various features such as, hearths, chert stone, flaking and vitrified slag's were noticed. The heavy presence of copper pieces and copper droplets on a vitrified sherd indicated copper smelting/processing activity. The pottery comprised of typical KotDijian and Mature Indus period pottery (3300-1800).
