Hazrat Pir Baid Shrine, Sukkur

The shrine of Hazrat Pir Baid Ahmed Sultan is situated in the middle of an ancient graveyard of Cheechrro village. The tomb is decorated with cut brick masonry. Some of the portions of the shrine have been altered / renovated which included the drum of the shrine itself. Pir Baid was the disciple of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakaria Multani.

The mausoleum of Pir Baid shares identical architectural features with the tombs of Nawal Mashaikh (Sultanpur) and Shaikh Laloo in Joonas (both in taluka Pano Akil), tombs of Suhagin and Duhagin in Arore (taluka Rohri). All the five tombs are invariably of the same size, shape as and the design. Apart from the cluster of tombs of imposing cut brick art dotted in Sukkur district, there is one more tomb of the same design located in Kharan, Balochistan. The Kharan tomb is famous as Mangol tomb, which houses the grave of a Mangol warrior.

The ancient graveyard of Pir Baaid is considered to be more older and extensive than Makli necropolis at Thatta. A large portion of the graveyard has been converted into an agricultural land by the local communities. The graveyard is covered with dense forest of khabbar and kandi trees.
