He belongs to Hindu religion of Khatri caste from royal family, but relinquished all luxurious life and used to live as a saint. It is said that his grand father Bhai Kalo Rai was a kotwal (police Incharge) of the city in the reign of Rai Bular. He is a son of famous saint of his time Guro Baba Nanik. He was born in Talondi (present Nankana Sahib) of Punjab in 1696 AD/1108 AH. In his adulthood he stayed at Kirtarpur and later came to Sindh from Nankana Sahib. At that time, Mirza Baqi Beg was the viceroy of Thatta. He established a hermitage on the right bank of river Indus on east about two miles away from Thatta city. His Kahlifa Bhai Kamlio used to be standing on his service. It is believed that Mirza Baqi Beg persecuted the Hindus, and they were not permitted to perform their religious duties freely, so they thronged to Baba Sirichand for relief and blessings. However, when Mirza Jani Beg became viceroy of Thatta, he reconciled with the saint and gave permission to Hindus to perform their religious duties in the Temple freely. It is said Bhai Sirichand went to Kelash Parbat, and died there at the age of 150. Now adays Hindus pilgrims come here and perform their duties according to their religious wishes.
