Habshad (or Ahinsa) Bai, Thatta

This is a small square tomb enclosure situated to the south of the enclosure of Baqi Beg Tarkhan. It is entered by a low stone door entrance from the south by a flight of three steps. The enclosure wall is similar in design to the small enclosure of the tomb of Baqi Beg, i.e. the wall relieved by arched panels alternating with latticed windows. In the present case the lattice shows intersecting circles joined by diagonal lines with rosettes or stars in the centre. Both the interior and the exterior are decorated in the same fashion. The mihrab wall shows the upper frieze of decoration-a rosette within lobed arches between border designs consisting of chequers and diagonals. The arched mihrab is contained within triple rectangular frames and a raised projection on its top, which carries in its upper row the same frieze as the side walls.
