Dabgir Mosque, Thatta


Dabgir mosque is located in city of Thatta, Taluka and District Thatta. It is about 1 km from Shah Jahan Mosque on Thatta Sujawal Road. Dabgir Mosque belongs to the Arghoon period. It is also known as Amir Khusro Khan's Mosque, after the name of its builder. Mosque was built by Amir Khusro Charkas in 1588, a descendant of Changez Khan.

Total covered area of mosque structure is 83'-0" x 38'-0" and 3154 sqfts. Total site area of mosque is 99'-6" x 110'-0" and 10945 sqfts. Mosque is constructed with burnt bricks, chiroli and lime is used as mortar.

Different types of bricks are used in the construction of mosque their sizes are: 9"x 9" x 2", 9"x4.5"x2". There are three entrances in front side of the mosque. The facade is decorated with Tudor arches. Tudor arch in built in exterior and interior of the mosque. Mosque has three prayer halls with three domes respectively. All three Drum are in octagonal shape and central big drum has four opening ventilators in tudor arch style built on octagonal drum.
