Jan Baba was one of the sons of Isa Khan I Tarkhan and father of lsa Khan II Tarkhan. After the death of his brother Mirza Salch, he became father's favourite and was selected to succeed him. But rivalry with his brother Mirza Baqi Beg Tarkhan resulted in his cold-blooded murder.16 According to an inscription he was killed in 978 A.H./A.D. 1570. Ills tomb is said to have been built by his son 1st Khan II in 1017 A.H./A.D. 1608.18 There is a general belief that there is a great influence of Gujrat on this monument. Such a belief probably arose from the fact that there is profusion of stone carving all over this monument. But as will be shown below, the whole style and carving derive from the local tradition as also the yellow limestone, of which the tomb is built, is obtained From local source.
