Bodhesar Temple 1, Tharparkar

Close to the foot of the Karoonjhar hills and south of the Bodhesar mosque are situated three Jain temples, separated from each other by small though furrowed plain. These structures are supposed to have been built in 1375 and 1449.

Temple No. 1: It is a small temple. It measures 8.5m in width at the front on the eastern side and 7.8m in length along the sidewalls on the north and south. It stands within a compound wall, a little less than a metre in height, and built in rubble masonry in local granite stone. The main building of the temple consists of a single but long cell. The main chamber which appears from outside to have three cells actually has only one long room with three compartments and is roofed with three corbelled low domes.
