Sarhandi Mosque, Matiari





The family mosque of Sarhandis in Matiari has with the passage of time undergone tremendous architectural changes and alterations. This historic mosque is situated in Sarhandi Para and was built in 1213 Hijri. This is believed to be the first ever mosque of Sarhandi family of Sindh.

The renowned mason Makhdoom Abdul Qasim (nephew of Hazrat Makhdoom Muhammad Hashim Thatvi) reportedly worked as its mason. It is single domed with two wind catchers. The width of its wall is 5.75 feet.

A single domed shrine of a pious lady of Sarhandi family is situated besides this mosque. The shrine is prohibited area for the male visitors.
