Sphinx of Rohri Hills, Khairpur

At least three human figures carved out atop a hill, situated in the hilly range of Rohri hills, about 10 kms in the east of Shadi Shaheed. Only two figures appear to be clear while the third one has been defaced due to natural erosion. The monument is believed to be of stone age period, where the people during the primitive time used to prepare/chizzle stone arms, which included knives, and other sharp edged weapons. Shah Abdul Latif University's Archeaology Department a seasoned archaeologist from Italicy Mr. Pylo Baijee did their best while working on the monuments spreading in the hilly range originating from Rohri. As many as 1200 monuments have been so far discovered in the same hilly range and the study is in progress. These human figures appear identical to the sphinx of Egypt and therefore we may call it Sphinx of Rohri Hills.
