Khairpur Industrail Zone, Khairpur

During state era, Khairpur was considered to be a most prosperous region in the subcontinent. The defunct state had its own industries of its own of all kinds with a great production potential. From printing to tobacco production, it was self reliant in all respects. Following the merger of state with Pakistan in 1955, things went out of hands and degeneration process began, leaving behind once the booming industrial town into vitually a barren and deserted village. All the industrial units went on closing day by day and one after the other. Until two decades back, the structures of those sick units existed, however, the unabated trend of encroachment swallowed all of them and they were razed to ground. Sindh Government Presss, one of the old printing units of the town was recently demolished. The old workshop is lying unused and perhaps counting its days of life. They gory saga of degeneration of Khairpur's once a prosperous heritage still continues unabated and unchecked in the hands of those, who are at the helm of affairs and are full of power.
