Kashmore Temples, Kashmore

Kashmore town has significant population of Hindu community. Following the partition of 1947, a large number of Hindus followed the mass exodus and left their ancestral town and house once and for all. Despite the departure of large number of Hindu population from the area, the town is still saturated with a good population of Hindu community.

For catering to the worship needs, there are five temples working in this small town. Among them Penchayti Darbar (town area), Prem Parkash Temple and Gurdwara Shri Nanak Sahib are some popular religious centre of the area.

Penchayati Darbar Temple, which is situated in Hindu Muhalla, also looks after a tharity school, named after Shri Bhagat Kanwar Ram.

Prem Parkash Temple, which is situated in Wadi Kund Muhalla, was built in memoriam of three prominent saintly figures of time viz Saeen Tenyun Ram, Sarwanand and Santi Parkash. Kaka is the shevadari of this temple, while Dada Kanya is its incharge.

The under constructed Gurdwara Shri Guru Nanik Sahib, situated in the Wadi Kund Muhalla is the only worship place for the Sikh community, living in and around the town. Shankar Kumar from Dera Bugti is its shevadari. Sardar Mahesh Sing, Chairman, Guru Nanik Singh Sabha Pakistan at Kashmore says that as many as 50 Sikh families reside in Kashmore alone. Their number is growing day by day. It is said that during the recent sectarian strife within the Hindu religion, a small section of Hindu population has converted into Sikhism. That is how the whole area including Kandhkot, Karampur etc has witnessed unprecedented growth in Sikh temples.
