District Local Board, Sukkur

The offices of District Local Board were constructed during the mid 1930s. Its assembly hall is named after Khan Bahadur Qaisar Khan Bozdar, the most influential socio political figure of the district. While two more blocks viz; Khan Saheb Pir Rasul Bux Shah Wing (District School Board Office) and Diwan Hardasmal Kewalram Wing (District Local Board Office), built during the same period also exist in the premises. Diwan Hardasmal Kewalram Wing is presently houses NADRA offices.

The old list of the Presidents of the district local Board is missing. More ironically, the offices of the board were set ablaze in the rioting that broke out at the assassination of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in December 2007. The incident resulted in the burning of huge valuable archival record. One of the officials of the Board disclosed that in the wake of Local government System 2001, the entire archival record of the Board was thrown out as a garbage heap under an open sky. Consequently most of the record was destroyed before it was finally set ablaze seven years later. It is pertinent to mention here that DLB Sukkur passed a resolution for renaming the Sukkur Barrage as Lloyd Barrage in the late i92os.The resolution was tabled by Sir Shah Nawaz Khan Bhutto.
