Hazrat Makhdoom Nooh Bakhri Tomb, Sukkur





The shrine of Hazrat Makhdoom Nooh Bakhri, near the Lansdowne bridge is a very important site of pilgrimage by the devotees. A memorial stone containing some details about the life of Makhdoom Nooh Bakhri exist in the premises of the shrine, which was planted and inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, then senior officer of Revenue Department, Government of Sindh. According to the details contained in the memorial stone, citing a reference from famous book Tohfatul Kiram' states as below:

"That Ghous e Azam Shaikh Bahauddin Zakaria Multani (RA) upon completing his education from Baghdad's popular educational centre headed by Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Suharwardi, sought the permission from his mentor to proceed to Multan for preaching the Holy message, which was granted. Besides this he was also advised to be in touch with Makhdoom Nooh Bakhri, one of the graduates of the same alma mater. As per the advise of his mentor, Hazrat Shaikh Bahauddin Zakaria Multani ventured to visit Bakhar to call on Hazrat Makhdoom Nooh Bakhri, where upon he was informed that he has passed away short while ago and his funeral prayers were ready for him to lead it. Hazrat Bahauddin Multani availed the opportunity and performed his Janaza Prayers. He died on 27th Rajab, 635 A.H."
