Shah Bhittai Mosque, Hyderabad





Shah Bhittai Mosque in deh Bheenpur, UC Moosa Khatian is believed to be the birth place of great sufi saint and poet, Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. The mosque erected on a platform, has vaulted chamber Tajar) for the ancient graveyards of Kalhora and the Talpur rulers of Sindh. There are two more ancient mosques in Sindh, bearing identical architectural features, one is situated besides the mausoleum of Oderolal and the other in the graveyard of Myun Wahyun (both in District Matiari). The mosque building is surrounded by ruins containing rich deposits of broken pottery and brick bats. Almost whole of the archeological site has been illegally occupied and irrigated by the local landlords. On the occasion of birthday of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, the custodian of this mosque usually arranges annual fair on this site in the month of Rajab.
