Syed Jamal Shah Alias Jam Datar, Thatta

His tomb is on southern portion of Makli hill. His original name is Syed Abdul Hadi bin Syed Abu-al-Ata. It is claimed his genealogy goes to Imam Moosa Kazim. He was famous for his work of ironsmith. He earlier lived on hill of Girnar in Juna Garh, Sorath, where was a hermit, and always devoted to fasting and meditation. Several people became disciples of him. Syed Abdul Hadi became resident of Makli Hill by the advice of Saint Pir Patho. There is a confusion about his date of birth. Ghulam Ali Allana asserts that, he was born on 542 AH, and died in 642 AH. Hence he lived nearly one hundred years. However, every year a fair is held on his tomb on 10 Rabi Alawal, in which thousands of his disciples from all around India come for blessings. This fair continues for three days.
