Until the recent past, Hala Town was one of the beneficiaries of rail road facilities. However, following the outbreak of Pro-Democracy Movement during the early 1980s, a large number of public properties came under attack by the agitating mobs and were set ablaze. In the cases of old railway infrastructure spreading in the interior of Sindh, which was badly affected during the course of agitation, the incumbent or the succeeding governments never bothered to initiate rehabilitation task and restore the service, but they abandoned it once and for all. Consequently, Hala railway line met the same fate and was closed for good in the 80s. Most of the precious property of the Railway Department was uprooted, stolen and illegally encroached upon. The building of Railway Station, has been converted into an office of HESCO Department. It has been closed from all corners and a wall has been erected around it.
